Take some notes because this Top Model have some amazing tips.

Here’s LINNDA SCOFIELD:

Q: Please tell us about yourself and what  you consider your defining characteristics as a model that makes you unique and recognizable from the rest.

*LS: At this moment, there are a tons of models at the grid so you need to be an outstanding model to get the right attention.
It is all about uniqueness. The first thing what a good model should have is to have a good personality. Have respect for your college models and designers,be friendly and helpful, enjoy the little things and don’t ever give up. Also a good taste, good sense of style and eye for details is important. Be updated with the fashion scene. Have passion with all the things you do.
To be and stay a good model, you need to keep improving and work for it, take time to work on your avi. The more you are original and unique, the more you will get noticed. Improve and try to be one of the best. Never give up!! Don’t just buy a shape and skin so you look like anyone else. Make it your own so people will recognize you. One tip I can gave is to dare to mix and match different designers and styles. This will make you stand out from the crowd.

I would like to describe myself as a model that have fun with everything; I am enjoying all the tiny things. I love to be classy, sexy and be elegant but I also value precision in any kind of way.

Q: What is your view of SL Fashion and how did you venture into the modelling industry?

*LS: I love Fashion, well call me fashion addicted. Because of my love for fashion, I started modeling on  November 2007. One of my best friends was a Modavia Supermodel already and she took me with her to Modavia. Dea Mills inspired and motivated me to be a model and gave (together with Harmonica) some great workshops and advice. They really inspired models in a good way to keep improving and teach us the basics. I started to join some agencies with a good reputation and even started my own agency in July 2008. I have never been “professionally trained” by an academy, but have learned everything through experience. But I do like to say to new models to join an academy so you are sure you know all the basics.I have constantly pushed myself to become a better model but I think even top models aren’t too old to learn and yes even me. I recently did some  advanced modeling seminars done by Payton Heron for Evane models and in July, I couldn’t resist to do 2 classes at the  MISS VIRTUAL WORLD Modeling Academy with my friends Mimmi and Kay, because one is never too old to learn and being up to date with the new tips and tricks.

Fashion doesn’t  only mean Modeling for me. Fashion at Sl is something very big and we deal with it everyday.
Fashion is a way to express my self, my personality and my feeling of the day 🙂
I love to search for new kinds of designers, read the sl fashion magazines and blogs to keep in touch with all things around sl fashion and try to combine outfits so I can make a unique look incl everything like accessory, hair and skins.

Q: What are some of your accomplishments within the modelling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modelling career?

*LS: The most important accomplishment is to be a well known model with a good reputation. I always have my love and passion for my work and I think people feel this when they are working with me and are around me.
My career have had some wonderful moments since 2007 , I will never forget the tiny things. I have done so much but i do have some highlights 😀 But don’t be afraid that I will note down my whole history.  haha.

One of those highlights is that I am hired by the most important agencies of SL which I am very proud of to be a part in and walk those amazing runway shows with them.

A moment I won’t forget was to be a model of the month and cover model for Bestyle Magazine last September. I felt so honored, this feeling was just amazing. I am also very proud to be a part of the Modavia group, no i am still no supermodel but they are a great group to work with and i have been in some shows with them and was in some magazine issues.
I also like to mention my work with some of the best designers in sl. I am so proud to be a LeeZu and Miamai model and I may not forget all my print work for several designers who become such great friends like Nando Korobase and leandra breen (angel dessous) Poulet Koenkamp (PurpleMoon), Joy Fellini (Fellini Couture),M4rk3tt0 Bonetto (DMD/Essential Soul) and July Raymaker (Manifeste) and oh my, I can name some more designers and print work but these people really always are there to support me and give me that smile on my face.

The same things is that Patty Cortes of Glance hired me not only as a model but also gave me a job as Blogger and Stylist for her website and Magazine. This really made me feel so happy and proud. It is great to see yourself in magazines or on store adds. Those are lovely and great moments for me.

I may not forget the one thing i am very proud of and that is running my own agency since july 2008. This week we are having a special show for our 2th anniversary. ModelX is my baby and together with all my precious models and staff we can be proud of it. Who could ever thought ModelX will be here after 2 years.

Q: You have certainly established yourself well within the modelling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model.  Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

*LS: Have Fun!! Enjoy all those lovely moments when you walk a show or doing a shoot for magazine’s or store add. Dare to be creative. Mix and match and don’t forget to make your outfit always special with all those lovely extra’s we have on sl.
Keep being unique and keep improving your self and the one of the most important things is to have respect to everyone around you, just be your self, never lose your personality, because at the end it is your personality and uniqueness which make you a great model, and not the tag above your head. Remember you are in a show, magazine or add to represent the brand not to present yourself.

My motto:
Beauty is in your soul even when your an avatar. It is how you feel inside and it reflects in your eyes. It’s beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart.

One thing i always tell new models is not to expect miracles and don’t think you are a top model in just a few months, and don’t freak out when you have lag, learn to live with it 😉

Q: What do you like and dislike about modelling?

*LS: I love all the creativity that is possible in sl. You can do anything to make that one special look. Styling is something i can do for hours and search just for that one special thing that finish my outfit. I just love to model hahaha and see myself back in show, adds etc.

I dislike models who think they are the best and think they rule. I so hate Jealousy, bad attitudes and people who don’t have respect for others. Just be your self because everyone is the same. And don’t be fake, i so hate fake people who are just want to come to me and be nice because they want something from me.

Q: What motivates you to be a model? Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

*LS: My love for fashion motivates me. I love rl fashion just as much as I love sl fashion and omg it is so huge in sl. I can express my feelings of a day into my outfit. My close friends are the ones who keep inspiring me and people like Leandra breen, Agtaope Carter, Mimmi Boa and Natasja Schumann can kick my butt sometimes when my modeling battery need to be uploaded haha.

Q: What are your plans for the future? Any future shows or projects we can look forward to?

*LS: OMG I have so many plans haha. First we have the 2th anniversary show next week for ModelX (and there are coming some more amazing shows with ModelX) but also i will be a part of the Modavia Fashion week and some shows with other great agency’s. I will keep blogging and styling for Glance and freelance for BOSL. I also joined some contest like Miss Bliss and Angel Dessous so see what that will bring me. Think i wont get bored 😉

Q: Is there anything else that you would like to add?
*LS: I just want to say thank you Rico (and the CSLTM team) for this interview and I hope i can inspire some people. It was an honor to do it 😀 Keep on going with this great website. Also i would like to thank everyone who always keep inspire me and support me.

***Thank You Linnda Scofield for the interview. You have provided us with some excellent modelling advice and we are grateful. We wish you the very best in all your endeavors and May You Always SHINE!!!

I am so pleased to present to you one Fantabulous Top Model: Leandra Breen

Q: Please tell us about yourself and what you consider your defining characteristics as a model that makes you unique and recognizable from the rest.

LB: Well it’s not easy to be unique when the whole grid runs to the same newest skins and shapes ;-).
I think the key is the whole package. When you feel all good and ‘found yourself’ in your appearance, then you found your look. I searched a long time, but now I found my style. I would describe myself as a classic model. I value precision, perfect poses and focused work on the catwalk.

Q: What is your view of SL Fashion and how did you venture into the modelling industry?

LB: I started with some contests in the Summer 2009 (woooo that was exciting) but no modelling at all. Some weeks later, I had the pleasure to meet Rena Mascot. She taught me the basics of modeling, the lessons have accompanied me ever since. I was looking for good agencies for training classes and graduated in February 2010. Learning should be ongoing for a model because there is something new to learn every day.

The SL Fashion Industry is in my opinion the biggest market in SL. There are so many high talented Designers and I admire them very much. Each designer has his/her own style and each different styles are beautiful like a rainbow. I know from Nando how much work has to be done for one new dress. It is a lot of work. My advice for new models is show your respect for the designers and their clothes with your best work.

Q:  What are some of your accomplishments within the modelling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modelling career?

LB: My biggest accomplishment is that I am now a well known model. No matter which tag is over my head, I know that I am sure in my work on the catwalk. Nevertheless, my greatest success is of course to be chosen as a finalist ‘Miss Germany 2011’ for Miss Virtual World 2011 competition.

Q:  You have certainly established yourself well within the modelling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

LB: There are hundreds of beautiful models in SL that want to take part in shows and want to be famous. But to be honest, modelling is more than walking in clothes, it is for me a kind of art too.

Also there are different kind of models. Photo models, contest models and runway models.

As a runway model you present the dresses of talented designers. Follow their instructions if required and ‘sell’ the dress on the stage with your appearance. Therefore, you should try to get the best education and styling skills.

Learn to deal with the lag, ask experienced models for help or suggestions and – very important – stay away from gossip and be always kind and charming. Your Attitude is your biggest point to make yourself unique. If you lose a contest, okay, cheer for the winners and share their happiness.
That is what makes you known in a good way.

Q:  What do you like and dislike about modelling?

LB: I like the variety of clothes and shows, each show is something special and exciting. And I like styling the dresses for a show. Sometimes it takes me hours finding exactly the accessories I am looking for a special dress.

I absolutely dislike Jealousy, Envy and bad attitude. Having a good attitude, being punctual and reliable shows your respect and respect is at least a thing we should have for each other, if in SL or RL.

Q:  What motivates you to be a model? Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

LB: The inspiration comes for me from the wonderful designers in SL and RL. I watch the RL trends carefully and find it again in SL Styles. Often I see a dress in a SL shop and think over the styling I would do for it, or I see an amazing RL dress and discuss with Nando if it would be a dress for SL too. Here I named one of my biggest inspirations, my partner Nando Korobase.

Q: What are your plans for the future? Any future shows or projects we can look forward to?

LB: Yes of course. I have plans for directing a new fabulous Show with BeStyle. I look forward for the Modavia Fashion Week and I go on with my daily work for Angel Dessous. In October, the MVW finals start and I will give my best in the contest. Wanna know a secret? I am very seldom excited before a contest, but MVW is a special thing and yes wow, I am excited :-)).

Q:  Is there anything else that you would like to add?

LB: I would like to add a thank you for Nando, for always being here for me and to my friends in SL for making this ‘second life’ to the wonderful place as it is for me.
Love you <3.

And thank you CSLTM team for the honor of being in the model spotlight :-))).

PH: I came into SL in May of 2007 and in July 2007, I met Isabella Sampaio of Style Guru who changed my life.  She helped me with my avatar transformation from California beach girl to beautiful blond avatar. She helped me find stylish clothing and get rid of my noob freebies. My intent was to become a model in SL and fulfill a lifetime RL dream.  I entered the Miss SL Tropics competition in August 2007 and became a finalist…and thus my start into SL fashion modeling.

I am known for my attention to styling, strong commitment to be a good model, mentor to new models and always doing  the best job I can when I am cast for a show, magazine editorial or video. In my 2 ½ years modeling,  I have accomplished a lot in SL modeling and the fashion industry.

TV –  7

Movie – 1

The most defining moment for me was when I received the honor of RUNWAY Model of the Year.  Having been in many competitions and come in 2nd or 3rd, I was always admiring my peers wins.  Then I finally won an award that recognized all the hard work I had put into modeling in SL.  And of more value was that this award came from photographers, stylists and designers votes NOT any popularity contest or media decision.

Q: You have certainly established yourself well within the modelling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model.  Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

PH: To be truly successful in SL modeling, there are many technical skills you must master but more importantly, you have to have passion and dedication.  This choice to model in SL, must be important enough that you will make real commitments to the craft. Lots and lots of practice are important but also being flexible to change, always being on time and prepared and the desire to be the BEST you can be.

MY advice to aspiring models is always the same:
1-    Get the best training you can afford and then continue to take classes that offer advanced training
2-    Do the best you can ALWAYS
3-    Have passion for what you are doing
4-    Be valuable to your agency and desiners
5-    Never complain and Have fun

Q: What do you like and dislike about modelling?

PH: Like:  I love modeling.  I have met some of the most amazing people from around the world and fulfilled a life long desire to model.  I have also been able to use my RL marketing skills to benefit designers and the fashion industry in SL.  I just love to model!!!!.

Dislike:  I hate whiny models who think they are entitled to special treatment for who they are.  They are not willing to put the work in the achieve top model status.  It takes a lot of time and work to make it to the top.  I also hate, hate, hate lag but that is a LL problem and nothing I can do to stop it.  I just learn to live with it and do the best I can.

Q: Please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

PH: I am motivated by my own desire and passion. There is no one person who had helped me become who I am .  It is just what I wanted to do and have realized almost all the goals I set forth for myself as a model in SL. My inspiration is simply do the very best I can at all times and to represent the designers and their designs in great fashion.

Q: What are your plans and goals for the future in modeling?

PH: I plan to continue doing runway, print and video for as long as I am cast to model.  I do however hope to realize my one final goal and that is to be a designer’s model and represent  their brand.  Hopefully a designer will see me and chose me to be their Brand Ambassador.

Q: Is there anything else that you would like to add?

PH: I feel that modeling in SL has grown since I began in the fall of 2007, some good and some bad.  I would hope that designers, agencies and business owners all realize that modeling is a large and important part of the commerce of SL and thus , models,  need to be appreciated and compensated for the time we devote to making SL fashion such a wonderful and important part of the SL experience.

CONFESSIONS MODEL SPOTLIGHT: Tesan Lane

TESAN LANE

There are certain Supermodels in SL who need the sparkle and glittering gimmicks to shine and then there are those who just naturally shine with their own inner light. I am honored to present to you our next model spotlight Tesan Lane, a humble Male Supermodel who is shining brightly in his own right.

Tesan Lane has been blazing his way to the top with his quiet inner strength and dignity combined with his professionalism and unique sense of style. He is a gentleman and truly loves modelling which shows in every job that he undertakes. He was crowned MR SL INTERNATIONAL last year and been named RFYRE Face of the Month September. He is a MODAVIA Supermodel, Mister Virtual World 2010 Finalist and is represented by the best SL Modelling agencies like Bestar and Bestyle, Modelx Agency, Elegance International Modeling Agency, Team Edo, SW&MB, Evane, Face2face (model and trainer), Glance international Agency, L.A Modeling, BOSL Agency and DIOR Agency (manager and model).

Please WELCOME MR SL International 2009 and MVW 2010 Finalist: Tesan Lane.

Q: Please tell us about yourself how you ventured into the modelling industry.

TL: When I have first disembarked on Second Life, I was like everybody at the beginning…. Lost.
I saw in shops these guys with perfect skins posing on vendors and I wanted to try it.
It was very hard as you can imagine … Doors stay closed. Then I have met people who allowed me to put my first foot in the fashion industry and since then, my career evolved gradually. I thank all the people who were able to help me in this adventure.

Q: Please tell us about some of your accomplishments within the modelling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modelling career.

TL: As I have said, my career evolve step by step. My very first accomplishment was to be a Model’pic for one of the biggest French designer, Solylence Houston, I had finally attained my first modelling goal. Then there was my first interview for one of the biggest Modeling Agencies : GLANCE. I still thank Patty Cortes for her confidence. And then the first casting for BOSL wedding show, an important moment too. Bestar Tour is also a part of my favorite accomplishments because it allowed me to meet my wonderfull wife, Agtaope Carter Lane (kisss dear:)). It has also opened for me many doors of some agencies as Bestyle, Modelx, Style of Edo and Evane.. My last one accomplishment is to be a Modavia Supermodel.
But my biggest accomplishment is naturally to have been crowned MISTER SL INTERNATIONAL 2009. I’m very proud because I worked hard for that.

Q: You have certainly established yourself well within the modelling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

TL: I have a small experience as a model in reality and I can say that rules are practically the same…
It is necessary to go into the criteria and at the same time to be different from the others. It is necessary to perfect the physical aspect (skin, shape etc.) but also to have a good attitude as much in the choice of the clothes as in the language and behavior. Be on all the castings and be very reliable. Never forget a photo shoot or a show and especially not take easy this profession.. The important is to remain Professional in any situations and for that, we have some excellent model’s academy on Second Life.

Q: What do you like and dislike about modelling?

TL:
I like modeling because I’m an addict of fashion and I like nice stuff.
For me, Fashion is a kind of art, very variable and diversified. I like the variety. I hate looking like everybody else, and in the SL fashion industry, We can really model ourselves uniquely by infusing our own fashion style. I also like the atmosphere of the shows and I love to emphasize the designer’s outfits which I model the best that I can.
On the other hand I don’t like the certain mentality, jealousy and superiority which certain person can make others feel. It is really a bad attitude which denies the fashion industry.

Q: Finally, please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

TL: As I said in the beginning, I was in admiration of the models on vendors and who run on fashion shows. It’s not because I wanted to be famous.. only about the atmosphere.. I had this feeling that this job was for me.. And I worked very hard to succeed. But now i can say that it wasn’t in vain.
Mimmi Boa and Salvo Waydelich have inspired me because we can say that they represent one of the biggest face of the SL Fashion Industry today.

Q: Is there anything else that you would like to add?

TL: Well, I just want to thank many people around me which all helped me in my second life adventure.
The first is my Wife, Agtaope Carter Lane for being there in any circumstances and who always supported me in all my projects.
My brother, Toky Raymaker, one of the best reshaper of SL, which has improve my shape for Mister International and which has allowed to gain the price.
My sister Mariella who encouraged me to make this contest and supported me up to the end while I wanted to give up.
My brother Philipp Dollinger and sister Monica Dieterle who are always there for me.
And finally Thanks to You for having chosen me for this interview.. It was a pleasure thanks again.

Thank you so Tesan Lane for letting me interview him and for sharing his experiences and modeling tips with us. Please leave some comments for him and give him some love.

CONFESSIONS MODEL SPOTLIGHT: Diconay Boa

Let me introduce to you a fascinating dynamic model with a fierce style all her own, Diconay Boa.

Her love for fashion and creativity shows in every aspect of her Second Life, whether modelling or designing. Her go getter attitude and hard work combined with immaculate fashion styling has rapidly move her in the big league. She is Evane Agency’s and SW&MB Production’s Fashion Director and is represented by a lot of top modelling agencies like Evane Top Model, SW&MB Productions Model, BeStyle Top Model, SuperElite Model, ModelX Top Model and EIMA Top Model!

Let’s get to know Diconay Boa.

Q. Please tell us about yourself how you ventured into the modeling industry.

DB: Well, that’s simple, but this answer has a story, so it will come on a long way! I am connected to fashion since I was little. In the very beginning I always loved to mix and match different kind of clothes, and styles, creating something new and totally ‘me’, so I think I am very conscious about fashion world, not even on SL but on RL as well! Then I started modeling in my Real Life till I was 20 almost! I stopped modeling cause of an accident I had while I was practicing sky. I had surgery to my left knee and after recovering I decided to graduate on Design. Life is made of choices, and I felt Design was my way, so I stopped modeling, and became a Designer, proudly graduated last year! Well, all I can say is that I felt a bit empty after I leave the fashion world, so Second Life has been my escape for what I didn’t became on real life! My modeling carreer in SL came to finish with the emptiness I felt… so I think on it as a continuation on the Fashion Industry.
Runway, photography and all that fashion brings, are my home! I truly don’t see myself doing another thing than this! That’s really my passion!

Q. Please tell us about some of your accomplishments within the modeling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modeling career.

DB: Dicconay Boa isn’t famous and don’t seek fame! If Diconay Boa wants to be recognized for something, it would be for her work! I can say that the moments that defined a lot my modeling career were definitely the Pre-Finals for Miss Virtual World 2010… I didn’t made the finals, but it was a sensation I can’t describe! Then I think it was Mimmi Boa invitation to work on Evane as Fashion Director, it was a total honor to be selected by Mimmi to work on one of the best agencies I know on Second Life, and see how Mims trust in me for this role on Evane. Means a lot to me!
Slowly I am conquering the best agencies of Second Life, and that’s truly regarding and a great privilege, like being Evane Top Model & Fashion Director, BeStyle Top Model, SuperElite Model, ModelX Top Model, SW&MB Productions Model & Fashion Director, and EIMA Top Model!
Being designer was quite an accomplishments for me as well 🙂 I started with lingerie, cause every woman loves lingerie, and its one of the my greatest passions, with shoes and other acessories, I can be crazy with them! For now Body Study [my brand] is in stand-by, but will be back soon and better!
Even more proud of my accomplishments I am when we talk about Haiti! I am proud of being one of the pioneers of this idea and one of the execuatives with Leandra Breen, Mimmi Boa and Salvo Waydelich. This tragedy came, and this is the best we can do to help them. Second Life isnt just a way to have fun, but having fun helping same time. This campaign means a lot to me, and I love to help others.
Its very very very regarding too when someone approach me saying I am inspiring to them as well, that not really and achievement I made, but in the end, we had to make something for this to happen so, I feel very proud of myself when someone says I am very inspiring to them, I really feel special 🙂

Q: You have certainly established yourself well within the modeling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

DB: Well, for a start and I think the most important thing above all, is strength, resistance to a ‘no’! All my SL I saw myself fighting some hard situations, and we need to have a lot of strength to achieve the goal we put into our minds. A model has to be faith and trust her/him, and have a lot of determination. I am here, and I never quit!
I was taught that being unique is essential as a model. As well as the style sense… SL is HUGE place, but small same time. Everyone can have your skin or mine. You can have the best skin on second life and the perfect shape, but all of this can be forgotten when you dress bad. Coco Channel said ‘Dress bad and appears a bad dress. Dress amazing and appears a woman’, and this one is my motto! Know the trends helps a lot, be updated, have the knowledge about new releases… all this is very important!
Being reliable is extremely important in the Fashion Industry. A model that fails commitments isn’t welcome in this world, let’s face it! Character, education, elegance, attitude, personality… these are adjectives for models have to consider having to be successful.
The capability of promote herself/himself! The best way to show your resume is yourself personally… you are the best PR that you can ever have!
Be humble. Don’t ‘wear’ a Diva attitude; people will lose respect for you if you use that!
Never reply to envy situations, or rumors, that only will give them reason to talk more about you! In these situations, better keep mouth shut, this people don’t have nothing better to do, so they spread all things about the others, so the best attitude and the way to act, is not acting at all!
Last but not least, be yourself and don’t change ever cause of a big winning, or cause you aren’t accepted on a casting or lost an important pageant or contest! Stay faithful to yourself.
I could be here hours… jeez!

Q. What do you like and dislike about modeling?

DB:I like everything about modeling. Everything!
Runway is my home, I just love shows. I love the photography world as well, I do my own pictures sometimes, and I get a lot of pleasure making them! The contact with designers, and trying to find the best way possible to represent them, the visit stores and see how many choices we have to create something truly unique and outstanding, the experience sharing, helping upcoming models, everything! Fashion world is my world, and I was designed for it, exclusively!

Q. Finally, please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

DB. God, I could be hours answering this question, but I can make it a bit resumed… Of course all models have such inspiring people and references, and I have to say I admire a lot Mimmi and Kay. This women are true icons.
I appreciate them a lot, but I have to say, that my main inspiration has been myself. I want to turn myself better every day by my own merit, be recognized cause of being ME! I dress depending on my mood, depending of the style I want to wear, on how the day was for me… I can be inspired by my own creativity, and for just being… me! What better inspiration can I ask?!

Q. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

DB. Jeez… already answered all questions?
Well I said this one time and I will say once more, cause it’s what I truly feel, so: Thank you all those friends I have that trust me and accept myself as I am: Genuine! And thanks most of all to those that envy me, cause I am stronger than ever and for helping me being proud of the person I became!
I want to thank you as well to RicoRacer Flux & Mikey Batriani for this amazing interview! I am really honored to be featured on CONFESSIONS OF A SECOND LIFE TOP MODEL blog. Total pleasure!

Special thanks to Diconay Boa for sharing her experiences and modeling tips with us. Best wishes to all her future endeavors. =) Please submit your comments below.

CONFESSIONS Model Spotlight: Jen Tafler

I am so happy and proud to present to you our next Confessions Model Spotlight: Jen Tafler. She is a bright shining star in the SL Fashion Industry who possessed grace, beauty, and a witty sense of humor. She is hardworking, reliable and someone I’m honored to call friend and family. She is one of my mentors and someone I look up to and completely trust.

Let me introduce to you one fantastic model, Jen Tafler. I am honored and excited as well to WELCOME her as an editor to Confessions of an SL Top Model Blog. She will be an awesome addition and will add a feminine touch to the blog. =)

Q. Please tell us about yourself how you ventured into the modeling industry.

JT. After my first six months exploring SL I came across a runway show at Avenue.  I was so impressed by the models and loved the idea of expressing feeling through a designers creations.  I realized that was what I wanted to do in SL.  I attended many runway shows, became friends with many people in the industry and went shopping for everything I needed.  Once I  had that, I was ready to practice and train hard.  And I haven’t stopped since.

Q. Please tell us about some of your accomplishments within the modeling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modeling career.

JT. I recently won 1st Place in the GIA January 2010 Modeling Photo Contest and was one of the few female models to walk in Men’s Fashion Week organized by Siren Productions  Also, I was a 2nd Round Finalist in the SuperElite SuperSearch 2010 Contest, placed 2nd Place at the September 2009 Champagne Contest and selected as the January Model for the DMI 2010 Calendar.  I have also done photo shoots for many designers, most recent was with the talented Ranena Olivier of Ranena Olivier Couture.

Q. You have certainly established yourself well within the modeling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model.  Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

JT. To be a successful model you need perseverance, a strong will, determination to never give up on your dreams, and to keep yourself open to learning new things always.  Also, enjoy every minute of it.  I believe if you are not having fun, even while training or practicing, then you are losing an important aspect of modeling.  But the main thing to always remember is that you are there for the designer.  It is their heart, soul and sweat that was put into what you’re wearing.  Wear it with grace, fierceness and commitment.

Q. What do you like and dislike about modeling?

I love bringing life and personality to a designers creation.  To add another dimension to a designer’s creation is an honor.  I also love meeting new people, learning and sharing my experiences and making new friends.  I dislike when SL plays games and won’t attach my prims or clothes.  Nothing like being a bald, half-nekkid model on the runway.

Q. Finally, please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

JT. To me, modeling is like art.  It’s being creative.  Whether through styling or putting modeling poses together.  This creates a visual expression of how you think the designer sees their creation coming to life.

For me, my inspiration comes from the designers, agencies and every model I have had the pleasure to meet and work along side with.  But I wouldn’t be the model I am without my SL family.  They are always there to support me and give me honest advice.  I value that the most.

Q. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

JT. I am always thankful for the opportunities I have been given and I look forward to the future.  I would like to send a special thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way and even now.  I wouldn’t be here I without you.  There are too many to list, but I know they know who they are.  To my family, I love you always and no ocean or land will ever change that.  Thank you for being there.  😀  xoxo

*Thank you so much Jen for letting me interview you and for sharing with us your modeling experiences.

PS: Please welcome Jen Tafler as an EDITOR to this blog: Confessions of an SL Top Model.
Due to real life, Mikey Batriani has not been able to contribute, so Jen will be an awesome help and will add a nice feminine touch to the blog. =) Welcome & TY Jen.

Presenting…Mr. Clyde Saunders.

Q: Please tell us about yourself how you ventured into the modelling industry.
CS: My venture into the fashion world was fairly unconventional. I started out like most just purchasing a typical shape with the instructions to find the matching skin, hair, outfit, and shoes. I was then recruited after my third week in Second Life to join an agency called Club Mannequin, which performed its fashion shows inside a club. I have always had a RL interest in fashion, so the idea of modeling in Second Life definitely intriged me when the offer arose. I walked in my first fashion show just five short weeks into my SL, without any knowledge of walking, posing, or turning. To this day, I have never been “professionally trained” by an academy, but have learned everything through experience and growth in the industry. Ever since my first SL fashion show, I have constantly pushed myself to be a better model.

Q: Please tell us about some of your accomplishments within the modelling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modelling career.

CS:
Over the last two years in my Second Life, there have been countless experiences that have aided in my career getting to the point where it is today. I am very proud of the prestigious agencies I have the pleasure of representing. I currently represent MAD Agency, Modavia, AVENUE, BeStyle, GLANCE | International Agency, Boulevard Agency, Timeless Modeling Agency, IMAGE Models Agency, and FACES. I also am the Director of Costa Rica Sims Productions.

Some of my accomplishments have included RUNWAY Magazine 2008 Model of The Year Nominee, Vain Inc. Magazine Best Male Model 2008 Nominee, and International Fashion Awards 2009 Best Male Model Nominee, and most recently Vain Inc. Magazine Best Male Model 2009 Winner. I was most surprised that by the end of my first year, I was already recognized as one of the top male models in SL. Shortly after my first rezz-day I was the announced as the Face of ALPHAMALE Clothing in 2009. This was an absolutely amazing experience to develop a 1-on-1 relationship with a prolific SL designer. Nothing is more exciting than seeing your photos in ad campaigns and clothing vendors. I also competed in the first Mr. Virtual World pageant as Mr. Greece and was the second runner up! This was also an incredible experience to be a part of such a grand event and to have custom outfits created by some amazing designers. More currently, I was a face of Alatiel Fashions finalist, Opulent Magazine Top 10 Second Life Hottest Hunk, and am currently a face of MOOLTO semi-finalist.

Q: You have certainly established yourself well within the modelling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?
CS: Being a successful model takes time. Success is not achieved overnight. Some essential elements would definitely be recognizable, yet distinct and unique look, patience, and dedication. Professionalism and reliability are two additional factors that play a major role in the duration of a models career. Nobody wants to work with someone who is unprofessional and unreliable. You can easily be replaced. It is important to keep in mind that models are a canvas for content creators. We style, advertise, and promote products through print and runway modeling.

Modeling in Second Life is a highly competitive career. There are dozens of agencies, and hundreds of models. When starting your career, I would absolutely suggest investing in a model academy in order to learn model basics. These fundamentals will be carried throughout your career. Marketing yourself is another key factor that can get your name noticed by designers, agency owners, and photographers. Webpages such as Flickr, MOOLTO, Pixelook, Plurk, and WordPress can all benefit a model to keep them networking with other members of the fashion community. Above all, be yourself, and do not pretend to be somebody that you are not.

Q: What do you like and dislike about modelling?
CS: I love the designers, photographers, and dedicated agency owners who are able to consistently produce work for many models across the Second Life grid. I am so amazed by both male and female designers and the content they create. So much has changed during the two years I have spent in SL, and it continues to amaze me how quickly things evolve. I also love the fellow models whom I have had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with, both experienced and new. The fashion industry, although it is highly competitive, has many models who truly care and constantly support each other.

I dislike the drama that evolves from the modeling profession. Sometimes it is inevitable, but I do my best to not get involved. Maintaining professionalism at all times is a very admirable characteristic. I also dislike those with a lack of patience, “diva” attitude, lack of respect, and jealousy. Nothing in the modeling profession is handed to you, everything is earned.

Q: Finally, please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?
CS: I am constantly motivated by the rapid evolution of the Second Life fashion industry, and the rush of walking in a runway show, having a photo shoot, seeing your face in a magazine, or a store, being interviewed, winning contests, and even SL television appearances. I always try to keep myself updated with the latest trends, while having an amazing time with some truly incredible people in this industry.

I am most inspired by music. Music is absolutely amazing and its constantly playing while I am in SL. Various songs may inspire an outfit, or a photograph, or a particular theme for a fashion show. It is just something that can always rely on, no matter what mood your in.

CONFESSIONS MODEL SPOTLIGHT: Wicca Merlin

There is a fresh model in 2009 who took the SL Fashion World by storm. Her stardom shined so bright because of her hard work and dedication to modeling, as well as her very unique fashion sense and amicable attitude. Her name and face are easily recognizable whether you see her on the magazines or in the runway. Wicca is not afraid to be different but still remains fashionable. She turns heads and is the center of attention wherever she goes. Her modeling resume is a dream for many but only a few can achieve. She is in all the top agencies right now including AVENUE, Boulevard, EIMA, Diversity, ModelX, GIA, OPIUM, Catalyst of Fantasy, L.A. Modeling Agency, TOMA and others. She graduated from the best modeling academies in SL such as Neiva Kumasi, GIA-Glance International Academy and AVENUE Academy.

She is truly an extraordinary person and that is why we are so happy to spotlight her. Please give her some love.

Q. Please tell us about yourself and how you ventured into the modeling industry.

WM: My Avatar was born on January the 31th in 2007. I was in SL exploring a lot for a long time. One day, I searched for a new challenge and I met an old friend of mine at Stilleto Moodys. We talked a bit and she told me that she is a model. I asked her a whole lot about modeling . A few days later, I met another 2 old friends and saw in their profiles that they are models too now, so I thought to myself that I was always interested in styling and fashion in RL so I decided to try my luck in modeling. I started with JCNY and signed on at the Glance Academy. After that, My modeling career took off and it went better from day to day!

Q: Please tell us about some of your accomplishments within the modeling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modeling career.

WM: I am not sure if it is an accomplishment but I found that I love training and helping others whether if they are aspiring models, friends or people who asked me for advice. I am very grateful as I was helped when I started my way into modeling. I am very happy that I am allowed to train others for GLANCE now. I am very proud to see my students make their way in the SL modeling industry. For example: When I see a show and see a model that I trained at GLANCE Academy, that gives me great pride and joy. 😉

Also it is great to see yourself in magazines or on store adds. Those are very great moments for me and I feel so lucky that I am allowed to do that 🙂 Maybe I am not one of the “usual” models. I have edges and I dare to show them some unique and fierce fashion styles. I am a perfectionist always. I am never satisfied with what I do and always try to make it better the next time. Maybe that is one of the reasons that brought me as far as I am. I am never sure where I am in any rankings. I never think about if I am a “Top” Model. I am a model that loves her work. 🙂

I walked in lots of fashion shows. I had the great honor to be in different magazines like Glance Magazine, Avenue Magazine, Catalyst of Fantasy Magazine and a few more. I was lucky as I was asked to store model for different stores and I was given great jobs on some agencies as a trainer, stylist , blogger or etc…
Overall, I have to say that I am a very lucky girl who is very grateful for all the opportunities to do something that I enjoy very well.

Q: You have certainly established yourself well within the modeling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

WM: The industry itself for me is an everyday growing challenge. There are many models out there and the jobs are limited. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be picked for modeling jobs in SL. It is not enough I think to have just a pretty avatar to survive for a long time. You have to network all the time and not even in world. For me it is not much different to the RL fashion industry, I think it comes pretty close.
I think that one of the most important things is to be yourself…never lose your personality. Not one job can be as important that you disown your character or yourself. Dare to be you with your character, personality and even with your own style. What I noticed is that many aspiring models try to copy well known ones. I think that is the wrong way. They are well known in the business and they use it cause they once started as what they are…so we don’t need clones of them I think. Better respect their work and try to make your own way and style. You can ask them I think for help and advices but don’t copy them by skin , shape and other things..that makes no sense.

Also, I am afraid to tell you but you have to have a good PC. All the runway shows for example will request a high running PC with a good hardware. If you think that modeling is a way to make money and get famous…forget it. It will cost you lindens to be always up to date on the latest releases. You will be ask to match your outfits with a wide assortment of skins and accessories.

Be yourself and make your own way. Don’t jump on a running train that left already..better to be the first that jumps on the new upcoming train 😉

Q: What do you like and dislike about modeling?

WM: I like that I can be creative and that I am allowed to show designers all the hard work and creativity whether on the runway, print jobs or with blogging. Also, it is great to share your likings with all the models close to you or working with you in the same agencies. It is amazing if you make contacts to designers and you are told that you are the one they like to show their designs on. Those are moments that open my heart and I am sure that it is the right way and I am right in what I do.

What I definitely don’t like is all that drama that is always around. People are jealous on others success and can’t be happy for them. For myself, I have very rare close friends I share my accomplishments with. But in general, I try to be quiet because I am scared always that someone will be jealous and tries to “hunt my head”. Sometimes that makes me sad but all the nice and great moments take all that away…:-)

Q: Finally, please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

WM: It is because I love everything about modeling. Training, styling, mix and matching designs, be a little crazy sometimes, be creative, do pictures, get pictures done…that all I am allowed to combine in the modeling job. The feeling that I am on the right way with what I do and all the lovely people that greet me every day or ask me for my advice or for help…they motivate me a lot!

I get my inspirations from RL and SL…all that I see I take in my mind and there are different ways to bring them in. If it is music, lyrics, magazines, talking to other people…all that can be inspirations which you can use if they fit.

Q. Please feel free to share anything else you wish to add such as any additional comments etc.

WM: SL is an amazing possibility to be what you want to be. You can show off your style anyways what you are in RL. You can show your sense for fashion on a body that can be changed for what it needs…I think it is a great opportunity.
Further, I would like to thank Rico and Mikey, for the honor to let me be a part of such a great row of amazing models before me and I am sure after me in the Confessions Model Spotlight.

1. Please tell us about yourself how you ventured into the modeling industry.

I was a model in RL and it was natural for me to plan the same career also in SL.
When i decided to start at international level I practiced a lot to have a perfect confidence with the “pixel catwalks” , walked tons of miles on the lil beach in front of my home and when i thought i was ready i promoted myself all the way.
My hard work and good skills helped me to reach all my targets in few time.
I really pushed myself to the limit to have a good preparation on stage and to create a unique avatar with a very personal look.

———————————————————————————-
3. You have certainly established yourself well within the modeling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

In SL is easy to be beautiful with a bunch of lindens and you can be a great doll but if you think this is enough to be a supermodel you are totally wrong!
A Supermodel must be unique and unique doesn’t mean beautiful, means to be different and outstanding from the crowd.
You can buy skins, shapes, outfits but you couldn’t buy attitude, good taste, good manners….. you must have it in your “DNA”
I usually tell to my models that i don’t make miracles, i just teach how to be a good model but their skills will makes the difference!
The most important thing is to understand we are models not actresses so our job is to “give life” to the creations we wear.
The first thing to remember is to find the best way to let the outfit you are wearing outstanding and how let it “shine” for an outstanding final results!

I can also say is very important to keep in mind the following points:

– dare to be different
– explore
– experiment
– be special
– create your own look (people must recognize you at first sight)
– RULE THE TRENDS!!!!!!
– learn to match the right accessories with the different styles.
– remember: better less stuffs but fabulous than tons of trash!
– Be always perfect because people is expecting to be inspired by you ( as in Rl happened with famous people)
– Be reliable, be nice, help people, be humble and smile!!!
– Stay out of gossips, don’t get involved in dramas.
– Be natural because the trend in the SL modeling is to be, the most you can, close to RL.
– And at the end of all don’t forget this is not your main life; take it easy, do your things seriously but remember this is a pixel world!

———————————————————————————-

4. What do you like and dislike about modeling?

Those are the things i dislike not only in the modeling but generaly:

I dislike bad manners, envy, jelous and greedy people and who doesn’t have respect of others.
I dislike bad attitudes and who spit poison on people just to hurt!
I HATE fake persons who act cute and kind just to reach something.
Remember Mimmi Boa is smart enough to understand who is “liking” just to have something back……
I’m nice but not stupid and don’t forget under Mimmi there is an “Iron” woman with a good working brain.

———————————————————————————–

5. Finally, please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

I believed that modeling in SL was the natural continuation of a career begun years ago in RL and ended abruptly due to force majeure ( a terrible car crash).I don’t stay here to tell you what’s happened, most of you just know but this is not the point i only just moved in this virtual world what I knew and did in real life.
I was skilled in my “main life” and I’m skilled in my “pixel life” that’s simple and the fact i have a good ability to match stuffs and a good taste surely helped me a lot.
I don’t have any inspirations i prefer to inspire others!
I love to help and encourage my students and models and I’m like an “auntie” to them.
Probably I’m very picky but i want my models on the top and so i let them work hard!

6. Please feel free to share anything else you wish to add such as any additional comments etc.

I wanna thank you both guys for this great project and for involving me!
My English is not a good one, as you know I’m Italian but i really hope you understand what i told *giggles*
Sl must be a lovely way to have fun,to relax, to express your personality doing something you couldn’t do in your “main life” not a way to hurt and and also to help who needs an hand, i still don’t understand why some people use it to hurt others and acting horrible but let me say losers in RL are losers also in SL!

Love
Mimmi Boa

We thank you Mimmi for allowing us to spotlight you.
We wish you all the best on your future endeavors in SL as well as RL.

Don’t forget to comment on Mimmi Boa’s spotlight! Your feedback is always valued 🙂
