ANNOUNCING MISS VIRTUAL WORLD 2013 AUDITIONS!

HOW TO AUDITION:

1. Send your best FULL PERM 512 X 512 headshot to Frolic Mills AND BlackBarbie Bravin labeled: MISS VIRTUAL WORLD 2013 (your name) – Please don’t forget the title, the year nor your name or we may never find the picture. Send the texture only, no folders nor notecards please.

2. Also, please send the same headshot to the following email: thebestofwebmaster@gmail.com – Don’t forget to include your name. This image should not be bigger than 1024 x 1024 nor smaller than 512 x 512.

3. Join THE BEST OF SL Magazine Readers Group. All MISS VIRTUAL WORLD 2013 announcements will be made in this group. Copy/Paste the link below in local chat, click it and join!

4. At the end of every month the judges will select those ladies, from the website, who they would like to see at a live audition. This means your face shot will be your first impression on the judges, so make it fabulous!

5. If you are called back for a live audition, prepare an outfit that you think will impress the judges. You will be judged on your walk, pose, styling and overall appearance.

6. If you get enough votes from the judges, you will be announced as an official MISS VIRTUAL WORLD 2013 candidate.

7. If you were called back, BUT did not make it into the official candidate’s list, you may audition again at a later live audition without resubmitting a new picture.

8. If you were not called back at all for a live audition, you may re-enter a new  headshot for the following month following steps 1 and 2 above.

9. Photoshop is allowed, but please keep photographs realistic so that it reflects how you actually look in Second Life.

10. Monthly auditions will be held from May till September. In October we will announce ALL the Official MISS VIRTUAL WORLD 2013 Candidates.

11. The MISS VIRTUAL WORLD 2013 Pageant will be held on December 15th 2012 at 10:00 am SLT. Please be aware that all rehearsals and press presentations will be held on Saturdays or Sundays at around this time from October to December. If you cannot commit to this schedule, please don’t audition at all.

12. You must be a RL female and be able to conduct voice interviews.

13. If you don´t speak English, you may still audition, but you must provide a translator for yourself during interviews and rehearsals if you become an official finalist.

WINTER WONDERLAND SHOW

FAREWELL TRIBUTE TO SERENE FAITH

Paying homage to elegant and chic Japanese couture, the 2012 Miss Virtual World Finalists will compete before a panel of judges in the eagerly anticipated WINTER WONDERLAND SHOW on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. SLT! This will be your last chance to see the 2012 Misses on one stage prior to the final competition on December 17, 2011.

Real life Broadway Actor/Singer/Songwriter Tamra Sands will perform LIVE at this event on a breathtaking winter wonderland stage created by the incomparable Maddox DuPont. Each finalist has created her own mix-and-match “kimono gone couture” look for this competition in a winter theme that will astound and delight!

We will also pay tribute and bid a very fond farewell to an amazing woman who gave so much of herself during this past year, our 2011 Miss Virtual World, Serene Faith. As we say goodbye to Serene, we sincerely thank her for and appreciate the special and unique gifts that she brought to the title of Miss Virtual World: her exciting and elegant styling, her assistance and guidance in helping to welcome and bring the teens into the adult grid, her compassionate, selfless, and tireless work in raising money for the Japan Relief Fund, which helped the Japanese people devastated by last year’s tsunami, and so many hours spent with appearances, lectures, and interviews. Her heart is always open and her elegance beyond compare, so please join us in a memorable tribute to this remarkable woman!

A special thank you to Dahriel Resident who created the stunning WINTER WONDERLAND SHOW Invitation.

You will want to arrive early to get a seat as we expect a full house for this event!

I am truly honored to be a finalist for MVW 2011 and to represent Russia. Since 2007 I always followed the fashion in SL. I love to photograph and to help new designers showing their creations in my blog and at the same time help with new ideas to people who follow me.

I’m happy to be part in this amazing pagaent I hope to give the very best of me, at this time I met wonderful ladies and learning a lot of them.

Miss Dominican Republic 2011: Rhonda Pennell

Hello everyone!

My name is Rhonda Pennell, I am a proud MVW finalist from England but representing the Dominican Republic and its colourful fashion *waves to her neighbour, Miss Haiti:)

I have enjoyed modeling in all of its forms since early 2008, and it has been an amazing ride with many ups and downs – but persistence and experience have taken me to where I am today, and there are so many friends and wonderful people in the fashion industry that I will always be thankful to for helping me along the way!

Today, besides modeling for many of the top agencies and designers in SL, I am also happy to teach tomorrow’s supermodels as an instructor at the Glance academy and share all that I know:)

Being an MVW finalist still feels like an amazing dream to me! All of the other girls are absolutely wonderful and so much fun, and I know that we are going to have a blast in the coming months, right up until the grand finale before Christmas!

*smiles a gentle hello to anyone reading this*
Well what can I tell you about me?? First of all my name is EmeraldEyes Honi and I will be representing my RL nation under the title MISS UK 2011 :D. I have been a model here in SL for 2 years, gradually making my way up the fashion ladder, and am now represented by a number of agencys. But that is only one side of me – I also blog about fashion, teach modelling, and do all I can to help promote new designers in SL.

I am still truly in shock from being chosen in the June Auditions for MVW – but now that I have been given this opportunity I promise to dedicate the next 12 months to uphold my country, prove why the UK is a little island to be reckoned with in the fashion stakes and also to show that true beauty comes in colour :))

Hey it’s me… Lea, I am model with all my heart. I am working for some of the best Agencies of the grid. I am Marketing Manager of Angel Dessous, Show director for Evane, ModelX and BeStyle Agency and if i found some time i love to explore SL’s beautiful sims with my partner.

The Fashion world of SL and all those creative designers are simply fascinating and I am each day happy again to be a part of it :-).

I am truly honored and very happy to represent my home country Germany for MVW 2011 and I look forward to the contests and events starting in October this year. I hope that all finalists will have a friendly and wonderful time during the finals. Girls, lets do the best we can, lets have an amazing time and lets celebrate the finals.

CONFESSIONS MODEL SPOTLIGHT: Isabel Brocco

It is with great pleasure to announce our latest model spotlight, Isabel Brocco. With a rezz date of 05/31/2005, Isabel spawns experience. it is clear that Isabel has seen and enjoyed the many facets of Second Life, one facet of which has seen her advance into one of Second Life’s finest and most experienced in demand models. Isabel immediately gravitated towards modeling eventually becoming Miss Virtual World in 2008 during its first year of operation and remains a catalyst in the SL modeling industry today. Isabel epitomizes beauty, grace, talent, humility and impeccable sense of style.

I’m honored to introduce to you the first winner of MISS VIRTUAL WORLD: ISABEL BROCCO

1. Please tell us about yourself how you ventured into the modelling industry.

IB: I rezzed may 31st of 05. Eager to see this new world I ran off Help Island and landed of course like most in a Club. One look around I thought “how do I look like them?” I met my still SL sis there and she helped me looked more of the norm. After i played with looks and skins we had then and though I didn’t look to bad. I happened upon Modelling, Happened to look in events on day and saw a modelling contest. I entered for fun and yes was very nervous. I had never walked a run way before, lol, my poor avi still had trouble flying! But to my surprise I won, and that was my start into the modelling world. And I have to say I was hooked.

2. Please tell us about some of your accomplishments within the modelling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modelling career.

IB: I’ve been featured in magazines, won some contests, but the most defining moment was becoming MVW. It was the 1st year of the contest, and I enjoyed it so much. The group of contestants I was with could not have been better to be with, there great people as well as Models.

3. You have certainly established yourself well within the modelling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?

IB: Don’t go into it to make a lot of lindens, Do it because of your passion of fashion. We spend a lot to get our look just right. Have your own look. I have tweaked my Avi over the years and my skins too.
Be dependable, don’t take Job if you can’t do it and be on time. They like to make sure everyone is going to show and not have last minute rush to find a replacement.
Wear what you are given…to not be an insult to the designer…so don’t be whiners!
Don’t be a Diva. Be kind to others and help them if needed.

4. What do you like and dislike about modelling?

IB: Getting to wear Fab outfits and put them together. I never stop being amazed at the work of the designers.
My dislike…well its one we have to work with and can’t do anything about. LAG! Got to love it lol

5. Finally, please tell us what motivates you to be a model. Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?

IB: Guess as a lot of girls growing up , we were in awe of the models we’d see in magazines and on TV. I couldn’t be a RL model, but in SL I can. The fashion in Sl is so fantastic who wouldn’t want to walk a cat walk wearing it. The Designers and their clothes inspire me to try to improve all the time.

6. Please feel free to share anything else you wish to add such as any additional comments etc.

IB: Join Contests for the fun and hope to win, but don’t get discouraged if you don’t. Also…While I have met many , many wonderful and kind models I have also met some that stick their noses up at none models or even other models….Such a shame and something I don’t understand…..Remember Treat others as you want to be treated. There’s ALWAYS someone new to take your place.

General information about MISS VIRTUAL WORLD Organization:

The MISS VIRTUAL WORLD Organization is a celebration of great content creation in Second Life. Expertly designed skins, hair styles, eyes, clothing, scripts and accessories and the ability to play around with these elements to create a flawless look is the name of the game.

What are we looking for?

MISS VIRTUAL WORLD Organization is looking for a beautiful female avatar with an outstanding presence. While the MISS VIRTUAL WORLD Organization will train all the contestants to be professional models in SL, the judges will also be looking at their ability to style and photograph beautifully.

MISS VIRTUAL WORLD candidates will also be interviewed privately by all judges and answer questions under pressure for the press during the rehearsals prior to the final evening. While looks and ability to style are important, a caring personality and willingness to help others should be the contestant’s top priority.

A beautiful goodwill ambassador in Second Life is perhaps the best definition for the role of MISS VIRTUAL WORLD.

What are the ladies judged on?

1. Well balanced shape.
2. Harmonious combination of skin, eyes and hair.
3. Ability to create beautiful styles with clothes and accessories.
4. A photogenic avatar
5. Personality and social behavior during the competition.
6. Ability to answer questions under pressure.

Who chooses MISS VIRTUAL WORLD?

MISS VIRTUAL WORLD is chosen by a panel of judges, with a discerning eye, from the preliminary steps all the way to the final evening. Due to RL obligations, the judges may vary from time to time during the competition.

The final evening will be judged by 10 very experienced gamers with backgrounds in content creation, fashion, modeling, photography and journalism.
