I am very pleased to announced our next CONFESSIONS SUPERMODEL SPOTLIGHT:
Dimitri Shinn
Dimitri Shinn is one of the TOP MALE MODELS in SL that I look up to as a role model because he is one of those male models that have it all together. He has charisma, substance, style and he is very friendly and approachable. On top of that, he has numerous talents including making poses. Aside from modelling at Top Notch Agencies like AVENUE, Boulevard and Mad, He is also the owner and pose designer of BeScene Poses which are superb on the runway and photo shoots. Please WELCOME him to the CSLTM Supermodel Spotlights.
Q: Please tell us about yourself and what you consider your defining characteristics as a model that makes you unique and recognizable from the rest.
DS: I believe that my ability to style any type of look is a major characteristic for me when it comes to being unique in modelling and recognizable from the rest. I have been told by many people that I have a unique flair for being able to style any look that is needed, be it for a fashion show, photoshoot or personal styling.
Q: What is your view of SL Fashion and how did you venture into the modelling industry?
DS: For myself, SL Fashion is about being as creative as you can be. Don’t allow any obstacles to hold you back. Take risks and chances when styling!
When I first started SL, I was very interested in becoming a male stylist. I got my first real job as an Avenue Stylist, thanks to Rusch Raymaker, Avenue CEO. When I had my interview with her, I was highly encouraged to take the modelling classes at Avenue Academy and from there it all started.
Q: What are some of your accomplishments within the modelling industry and describe what would be one of the most defining moments of your modelling career?
DS: My most defining moments for myself in SL would be walking in my first runway show ever with Avenue Models. I distinctly remember the exact show, it was Winterfaire in 2009. It was exactly right after I had graduated.
In addition to this I have been really blessed within the modelling and fashion industry.
I feel that I have reached my goals finally in SL when it comes to modelling, my main focus was getting into the 3 agencies that I currently work for, Avenue, Boulevard and MAD Agency, getting into MAD Agency finally sealed the deal for me when it comes to modelling.
As a male stylist, I have had the pleasure of working with some male models on the grid by giving them a makeover and giving them personal courses on styling. I feel that this is an accomplishment for myself as it makes me happy to see that they are finally pleased with themselves and successful within the industry.
I have been working over a year as a MAD Image stylist, thanks to Nicholai Shepherd, gone but not forgotten.
I was named one of ICON Magazine’s stylist of the month. In addition to that I was asked to do monthly print work with Icon Magazine and have also been with them over a year.
I was Avenue Model of The Month in February 2010 in Avenue monthly magazine.
I have managed to open and get my shop BeScene Poses going, something I had been wanting to do for quite some time before I actually got it going. Because of my experience with modelling and print work, I base a lot of my creations around what people would need for runway, print work and much more.
Q: You have certainly established yourself well within the modelling industry. Please tell us what you believe are the essential elements to being a successful model. Do you have any advice for aspiring models?
DS: As for advice I would certainly tell them that:-
1) They should never give up on something that they want.
2) Treat others as you would want them to treat you.
3) Last but not least, be yourself.
Q: What do you like and dislike about modelling?
DS: There is nothing I really dislike about modelling, another way to look at things would be as a challenge and finding a way to overcome them.
Q: What motivates you to be a model? Who inspires you the most and what is your inspiration?
DS: The ability to style anything and make it look great is what motivates me. I actually consider myself a stylist above a model. I do believe tho, that styling is one the main essentials to being a great model. As for who inspires me, I would say that one of my good friends Boe Cortes does, he is a fantastic stylist and a great model.
Q: What are your plans for the future? Any future shows or projects we can look forward to?
DS: As for future plans, I am mainly focused on my store at the moment and always researching ways to improve my creations. I also have plans to create male and female modelling walks at some point.
Q: Do you have any other interest or career in SL other than modelling? Tell us about it.
DS: My other interests in SL would be my beautiful wife, Shae Sixpence whom I adore and love spending time with, exploring sims, watching movies creating poses with and much more. I don’t have much time for anything else as I am already very busy as it is.
Q: Is there anything else that you would like to add?
DS: I would like to thank CSLTM for this interview. I hope everyone has a successful and blessed career within this industry as I have.
