For over a year, I have been on the process of launching an Equal Rights Awareness Charity in Second Life in the belief that two consenting adults should have the right to love and marry regardless whether they are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered or Straight. I was set to launched last summer (Free2Love) with the help of friends but to be honest I was always afraid. What if no one listens or worse, be humiliated and attacked for something I believed in? I waited and wondered that somebody should be doing something about this. Then I realized I AM SOMEBODY. I’ve been taught that NO ONE WOULD LISTEN IF YOU DON’T SPEAK UP. You can’t just sit on your butt and expect people to open their minds. If I can just open only one mind and make him/her realize that two people should be able to love and marry, then I have achieved my goal. If President Obama can risked his Presidency by supporting Gay Marriage, then I am here STANDING UP 4 Love and I hope you will join me as well. 🙂
Each one of us has the right to liberty, justice and the pursuit of happiness. Everyone has the right to love and be loved in return. GAY, LESBIAN, STRAIGHT, TRANSGENDERED or BISEXUAL…..Sexual Orientation or Race shouldn’t Matter. The FREEDOM to LOVE is fundamental as the FREEDOM to BREATHE. Two adults should have the right to love without discrimination and intolerance. Marriage should be available to any loving couple. Let’s end hatred and discrimination now.
STAND 4 LOVE is an awareness project set to launch this summer 2012 to promote the visibility and rights of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Straight couples. It will be a picture campaign in Second Life to spread awareness. I am planning to published all the pictures in the CSLTM/ URWORLD blogs as well as in the STAND4LOVE Facebook and flickr. I will take the best pictures with the best message and bind them in a book to publish in SL & Issuu. I am looking for supporters and sponsors in this project. I am not looking for money or donations. Just some help to spread the word. If you are a photographer and would like to help take pictures, it would be awesome. If you are a blogger and would like to spread the message in your blog, we love you for it. If you would like to join the efforts and truly believe in the cause, we would love to have you. One certain thing in both our real and second lives is that change is a certainty, and today, we at AVENUE Magazine are embracing something new with the stepping down of Isadora Fiddlesticks, who has served our publication as Managing Editor, and also with the promotion of our new Editor in Chief, Sensuous Soulstar. Isadora has been an important part of the AVENUE family for several years, and she leaves her position having made many significant contributions for which we are so very grateful. We wish her much happiness and good fortune on her journey to come, but are pleased to announce that she will remain a part of the AVENUE family and may return to contribute again in the future.
AVENUE is pleased to announce the well-deserved promotion of Sensuous Soulstar to Editor in Chief. Sensuous came to AVENUE two years ago bringing with her a plethora of real life and virtual world experience in journalism and management. She began as a writer and was soon promoted to senior writer, and most recently, she has excelled in her role as General Manager. Sensuous possesses a real world communications and publishing background, having journalism experiences that include working as part of the newspaper staff during her university years at Howard University, as well as performing as a regular contributor to the Law Review during her law school years. Currently employed in the legal field, Sensuous enjoys the creative opportunities presented to her through her work with AVENUE Magazine. When asked about her future plans at AVENUE Magazine, Sensuous offered this: “As for my plans, I intend to continue the outstanding legacy that AVENUE has created. We will continue to provide readers with the most current trends in fashion, the most talented artists in SL and RL, the best places to call home, and of course continue to salute those that are in SL for a higher cause. I will continue to keep an open rapport with the staff and hope to remain a liaison between the staff and management, as that’s been one of my favorite aspects of my work as General Manager. I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I do know that the future looks incredibly blessed for AVENUE, and I’m grateful to be a part of that future.”

12pm SLT – Blindboy Gumbo
UK Northener Blindboy Gumbo started his SL music career mostly doing covers with the odd original thrown in for good measure, but with regular shows and audience feedback he found SL live music to be more than just doing covers for fun, and it became an outlet for his real talent, performing his original music and playing some serious slide guitar!
01pm SLT – POL Arida
POL Arida is a solo artist working from Edinburgh, Scotland. Words are POL’s real passion and each of his original songs presents his own unique perspective of life in this world we live in.
02pm SLT – Savannah Coronet
‘I am influenced in my Singing by many different genres. My passion is country music. Singing has taken me in many different directions including small musicals, theatrical roles, honors chorus, talent shows and karaoke shows. I have won contests and I was also a singer in a garage band for a few years. Now I am living out my dream here in Second Life!’
03pm SLT – Freestar Tammas
Freestar Tammas, or “Free” as she is known to most, has streamed live in SL since May ’07. Her singing/songwriting style developed while listening to Bonnie Raitt and classic Elton John/Bernie Taupin (pre-1976), resulting in her own bluesy, sassy, soulful style. Quirky, irreverent and often a bit naughty, she is an original personality playing original acoustic tunes, making the few covers she performs completely her own.
04pm SLT – Allister Westland
Allister has been writing and performing music for over 20 years. He is self taught in guitar, bass, percussion and keyboards. He is also Conservatory trained in Clarinet and has won several awards for his playing abilities. Allister has performed and recorded with many bands throughout the years and has solid stage and recording studio experience.
05pm SLT – Lighthouse Mixmaster
Joel Harlan, aka Lighthouse Mixmaster, has been playing professionally, both live and session work, for many years. While living in Texas, Joel has jammed with Ted Nugent, Jimmy Wallace & Bugs Henderson. He has also shared the stage with many artists including Tracy Byrd, Black Oak Arkansas, Three Dog Night and many more. Joel has been playing guitar ever since 1976. He attended Southwest Guitar Conservatory in 1985 where he studied with Jackie King and Herb Ellis.
06pm SLT – Rapture Damone
One woman and six strings equals pure pleasure. Rapture delivers an eclectic mix of covers that provide pleasure regardless of your music of choice! She pulls out new material constantly and delivers it with talent and enthusiasm… always interacting with her audience to deliver what they ask for!
07pm SLT – Sojurn Rossini
Sojurn Rossini has been rocking the SL music scene for a few years now. He plays regular gigs at several different hot spots around the grid. Sojurn has an eclectic array of influences and cover tunes ranging from Bob Marley to James Taylor, to more recent artist like Pearl Jam, Incubus, Three doors down, Jack Johnson and more. If you are looking for a whole lotta soul packed into one man’s performance, this is the guy to see!
08pm SLT – Maximillion Kleene
If music feeds the soul, Maximillion Kleene is the food of the gods. His dynamic musical range and smooth groove provide many a listener with a virtual buffet of auditory temptations. Max brings high energy and a vast repertoire of quirky, classic, and current covers to Second Life. Oozing charisma and charm, he provides his fans with an hour of musical magic.
09pm SLT – Edward Kyomoon
Edward gives you high energy rock music and love songs, performing live on either acoustic or electric guitar. From high energy guitar solos and soaring vocals to acoustic ballads and love songs that make the girls swoon, he is sure to please any audience he draws.

AVENUE is honored to announce this year’s Relay For Life, AVENUE of Life, kick-off event “Couture of Hope”. Last year our tribute to Alexander McQueen raised over $2,000 usd for Keep A Child Alive and this year we hope break that record for Relay for Life.
With 40 participating designers, fashion bloggers, sponsors, special guests and the dedication of AVENUE staff – “Couture of Hope” is a tribute to the survivors and champions who battle cancer everyday. We challenged this years participating designers to design a couture piece that embodies their vision for a season of hope. We are so thankful for each and every designer participation and know this will be an outstanding tribute for RFL.
The, May 1st, event will open with a preview show of the 40 exclusive designs, followed by an After Party, Date Auction and special guests appearance from Dazzlers Inc. The AVENUE at GOL sim has now been closed to the public in anticipation to Sunday’s events, and we hope you join us to Relay.
