You have two chances to show us your style, make the most of them.  We want to see versatility – shots which are too similar, no matter how good, will put you at a disadvantage immediately.

This competition is very competitive and many models use professional photographers; you do not need to use a professional photographer, but if you are submitting photos you’ve taken yourself make sure they can rival the best. Compare them to previous winners so you can get an idea of what we are looking for in a winner.

Please follow the directions and make sure you have joined all necessary groups.  Each month we have to eliminate potentially winning applicants because they have not completely followed the rules.

Deadline for Notecards with requested information must be submitted by the 25th of EACH MONTH.

RICORACER FLUX “The Journey”: People lately have been asking me about modeling and whether I make a lot of money. LOL. I usually respond with, “Don’t go into modeling if you think you can make a lot of money. Most of the time, you spend more than you get paid.” I go on to explain that sometimes you don’t get paid other than the outfit that they provide for you to wear at the show. Most of the time, I spend more to buy skins, hair, jewelry, poses and accessories to complement the outfit for the show. They then give me a “ARE YOU CRAZY?” look asking “WHY THE HECK DO YOU MODEL THEN?”. LOL. I usually pause a bit at this time thinking of the right answer to give, that they would understand, so they would stop giving me the “crazy” look.
Why the heck do I model?
Well, Modeling in SL is something I am passionate about. It is exciting to be part of infusing my own touch and personality into a designer’s creation to create something beautiful and extraordinary. Then to show it off on the runway or print ads is exhilarating. All those hours of preparing the outfit, making sure all prims are perfect, picking the right poses that would show off the design, making sure the skins/hair/accessories goes well together… It is worth it for the few minutes of showing it off to an excited (well, sometimes comatose ;p) crowd. LOL.
I model because I love that feeling of mixed nervousness and exhilaration as the adrenaline pumps up while waiting backstage at a show. I model because modeling allows me to be creative and let me live the dream even if it is only in the Virtual World. Usually at this time, I get silence then they get “booted”. Pfft. I hope I didn’t bore them.

RICORACER FLUX “The Journey”: I just submitted my biography and pictures for Mister Virtual World spotlight in BOSL Magazine May Issue and MVW blog. Skip Staheli did the pictures and they look awesome. I guess this is the first time the candidates will be seen in public and be judged. lol. I’ve met some really great guys in this competition. We have talked, shared ideas, showed each other our pictures. It is really awesome that even though we are competing for the title of MVW, we are friends and are having fun. We will be looking for dedicated professional models with a unique flair to join the iC Motions Fashion Agency Team. *RicoRacer Flux “The Journey”: I am on a modeling break at this time to refresh and energize. The past few months have been crazy with lots of fashion shows, editorials and contests. I love modeling but sometimes one must take a little break for a breathe of fresh ideas and perspective. Also have a lot of real life affairs to settle. My next projects will be completing our first task for Mister Virtual World which is a photo of our National Costume with head shot and a brief biography about ourselves. I cannot wait to show off my National Costume especially designed by the super talented designer: Enzo Champagne from CHAMPAGNE! Sparkling Fashion. He did an amazing job and I am so honored and grateful for his sponsorship.

Also considering applying for the Modavia Casting, “Paris in the Springtime”. We shall see. =) Ciao.

FANTASY FAIRE: Don’t Miss this 9 Sim Event.

From Monday April 19th to Sunday 25th 2010, thousands of Second Life residents and creators are coming together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer.  Friends Fighting Cancer (FFC) have transformed nine sims of Second Life into a fantasy wonderland:  the Fantasy Faire 2010 to benefit Relay for Life of Second Life (RFL of SL).

The Fantasy Faire 2010 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world.  A week of commerce, special events, live music concerts, exclusive items auctions, RFL ribbon hunts and fundraising to benefit Relay for Life and the fight against cancer.  Avatars, clothing, furnishings, gadgets, goodies and exclusive items are available from top SL Fantasy Creators including Fantavatar and Moonstruck, Evie’s Closet, Fallen Gods, Mer Betta, Sassy Kitty, and many, many more!

This nine sim event is bringing together such fantasy genres as Fairy, Elven, Magic, Mermaid, Goth, Demon, Vamp, Neko, Tiny, Sci-Fi and more!  FFC’s goal in 2010 is to raise $15,000 USD for RFL of SL. The Fantasy Faire 2010 will also offer visitors an opportunity  to celebrate the survivors of cancer, remember and honor loved ones lost, and to fight back with the American Cancer Society.
